Trusted Scottsdale Coin Buyer

Trusted Scottsdale Coin Buyer

As a regular coin buyer with 30+ years in the business, we at Scottsdale Loan Company know that selling coin collections and selling rare coins isn’t always easy. Unlike electronics and jewelry, the marketplace and general group of buyers for coins is more limited.

At Scottsdale Loan Company, we buy and sell coins regularly. From coin collectors to the person who inherited a rare coin through an estate, we work with everybody. We even offer coin appraisal services to our customers.

The Difference Between Numismatic and Collectible Coins

The word numismatic is used to refer to gold or silver coins that are simply worth their weight in precious metals.  Most coins have this kind of value, having either a certain percentage of silver or being forged out of 18 kt gold.  The importance in this distinction is how the coins are valued.  Numismatic coins are simply valued in their gram weight of gold or silver rather than having some kind of inherent value like a collectible coin.

Collectible coins are exactly what they sound like: coins that are sought after by coin dealers or collectors for their rarity or antiquity.  Most old coins, despite popular belief, simply don’t have collectible value.  With the vast quantity of currency that is printed each and every year, and the fact that they’re durable, there’s hundreds of thousands of old coins floating around the world on a daily basis.  Numismatic value is the most common type of value you will see in coins.
